The Channel – why?

The crew’s efforts are dedicated to the very wonderful and utterly inspirational Toby Atkinson.  Anyone who knew Toby would know he would be chuckling at the idea of such inexperienced rowers taking on The Channel.  And given the chance, he would be jumping in the boat and grabbing an oar himself.  His incredible spirit, energy, lust for life, kindness and his uniquely cheeky mile-wide smile will no doubt go with us.

Toby was greatly helped by Marie Curie nurses and raised a great deal of money for the charity himself.  Through the crossing we aim to raise £5,000 for Marie Curie.  Sponsorship can be pledged at:

Marie Curie Cancer Care is a UK charity dedicated to the care of people with terminal cancer and other illnesses.  The charity is best known for its network of 2,000 Marie Curie nurses who work in the homes of terminally ill patients across the UK, providing practical care and support.  Over the year, Marie Curie nurses provided 1.2 million hours of nursing to 23,406 patients, along with support for their families.
